Elizabeth Lovell

Elizabeth Tinker (nee Lovell). Tall, statuesque with a nice complexion she was quietly spoken and unruffled. Elizabeth was Frank’s second wife –they were married on the 31st of January 1894. The family story goes she met Frank when collecting for the Salvation Army and collected more than she bargained for! No one ever spoke a bad word about her. She worked extremely hard- went to bed after everyone- up again at 2am starching collars. She was 20 when she was married. She took on Jessie’s 4 young children and had 11 of her own plus numerous miscarriages. She also took in boarders. Lizzie treated all the children as her own, they were all very close to her. Her letters from James, Les and Ernie show the regard they had for her. She lived with her youngest child Mary in later years. She had 2 strokes and a deep seated skin cancer- she died at the age of 77.
